Girl Scout Programs

Calling all Girl Scout Troops! Earn badges by participating in our Girl Scout Badge in a Day workshop! Workshops include the steps to earn your badge plus visits to select exhibits and live animals. These programs are for a maximum of 33 individuals.

SATURDAYS and SUNDAYS from September to May, 90 minutes

Daisy: Eco Learners

Bring your Daisies to earn their Eco Learner Badge by going on a nature trek in the Queens Zoo! Through games and challenges, you will discover the many ways you can take action to protect nature! During the trek through habitats at the zoo, you'll make a few pit stops to meet some resident animals up close.

Daisy: Animal Observers

Let's observe like scientists! There is so much to learn by watching and listening to animals in their habitats. During the Animal Observer's badge workshop, your Daisies will get a chance to tap into their observation skills through up-close animals studies, look for evidence of wild animals, and learn about tools scientists to study the natural world.

Brownies: Senses Badge

Bring your Brownies to work toward earning their Senses Badge by meeting some special animal guests in the zoo classroom and learning how animals use their senses to survive and thrive. Your Girl Scouts will use their senses to understand the animal world through hands-on activities and up-close animal encounters.

Brownies: Bugs

Have you heard the latest buzz? Your Brownies can earn their Bugs Badge while learning about why bugs are important to our environment! Your Girl Scouts will learn how to identify an insect and participate in a science-based activity while exploring a bug-themed exhibit. They will also meet animal guests in the classroom, make a craft inspired by bugs, and learn why insects are critical to healthy ecosystems!

Juniors: Animal Habitat Badge

Bring your Junior Girl Scouts to work toward their Animal Habitats Badge by exploring one of the most amazing animal habitats - the rainforest! Your Girl Scouts will meet animal guests in a zoo classroom and discuss how animals are adapted to survive in this unique environment. They will explore a rainforest exhibit at the zoo and conduct a rainforest animal census, discuss threats to rainforests and the animals that live there and learn what we all can do to help!

Juniors and Cadettes: STEM Careers

Discover the wide variety of careers in wildlife conservation! In this badge workshop, you'll explore get a chance to meet animals through upclose encounters and learn about the people that care for them at the Queens Zoo. Available for both Juniors and Cadettes.

Cadettes: Animal Helpers Badge

Bring your Cadette Girl Scout troop to the Queens Zoo to work towards completing their Animal Helpers Badge by discovering the relationship between humans and animals and the many ways we help each other! Your troop will meet two animal guests in a zoo classroom, engage in hands-on exploratory activities, and visit a zoo exhibit.

Cub Scout Programs

Calling all Cub Scout Troops! Earn adventure loops by participating in our Cub Scout adventure workshop! Workshops include the steps to earn your adventure loop plus visits to select exhibits and live animals. Adventure loops are included for all scouts that complete the activities at the zoo. These programs are for a maximum of 33 individuals.

Tiger Adventure: Tigers in the Wild

Bring your tiger den to work toward earning their Tigers in the Wild Adventure at the Queens Zoo. Your troop will practice observing local wildlife, explore the difference between domestic and wild animals, and learn how to be a responsible outdoor explorer through upclose animal encounters and a guided nature walk through the zoo grounds.

Wolf Adventure: Paws on the Path

Bring your wolf den to work toward earning their Paws on the Path Adventure at the Queens Zoo. Your troop will learn about local wildlife, practice map-making skills, and learn about environmental stewardship through up-close animal encounters and a guided nature walk through the zoo grounds.

All Scouts PJ Fun Patch Workshop

Wild Night at the Zoo (all Girl and Cub scouts from K-8th Grade)

Bring your troop or den for an evening at the Queens Zoo! Earn a themed fun patch by participating in our Scout PJ Patch Workshop. Workshops will include a guided evening tour, up close animal encounters, hands-on exploration, and tasty treats to enjoy with your whole troop. Pajamas are welcome!

FRIDAYS and SATURDAYS, 5:00pm - 7:00pm

Scouts PJ Patch Workshop: Wild Night in the Zoo

Experience the zoo after dark while learning about amazing nocturnal wildlife. During this after-hours workshop your troop will go on a guided tour to learn about animal adaptation, make observations during up close animal encounters, and enjoy tasty treats while working on science skills that can be applied to a variety of badge, journey, or adventure requirements!

SERIES DATES: select Fridays and Saturdays from October to May

Price: $450

Sensory bags are available for use. This program includes walking outside. All paths are wheelchair and stroller accessible. Prices are per person, each individual attending needs their own ticket.
