Put on your safari hat and bring your magnifying lenses. Each week will focus a different animal adaptation as we learn about the Queens Zoo’s residents through hands-on activities, up-close encounters, and exhibit exploration.

Junior Explorers: Creepy Crawly Creatures

Do spiders, worms, and bugs send a shiver down your spine? These creepy crawly creatures might seem unpleasant or scary, but they have important jobs in the wild! Invertebrates are spineless, but still the backbone of our ecosystems. In this program, we'll discover the role that creepy crawlies play in our world.

Junior Explorers: Who's Who on the Farm

What animals live on a farm, and why do farmers keep animals? You’ll meet our fascinating farm friends up close and learn about what makes them so important. This program will include feeding of our farm animals and a special visit with our domestic animal ambassadors.

Junior Explorers: Kings of the Sea

What’s the difference between a sea lion and a seal, and why are sea lions so loud? You’ll learn this and more as you explore the underwater world of our California Sea Lions. Dive in as we discover the unique adaptations that make sea lions the kings of the water.

Junior Explorers: Mountain Masters

While some may call them spectacled bears, these bears don’t need any glasses to survive! Andean bears are incredible animals who thrive in the Andes Mountains of South America. You’ll put your scientist skills to the test as you find out how these arboreal adventurers have mastered the mountains!

Junior Explorers: A Cat of Many Names

Puma, Cougar, Mountain Lion, Panther – why does this big cat have so many names? During this program you will discover more about this elusive cat as we hunt for the answers to what makes them so unique. You’ll explore from the top of North America to the tip of South America while getting to know their native range.
