Sheep and Cows
We have three breeds of sheep at the Queens Zoo: Jacob’s four-horned, Shetland, and Southdown. Also look out for the belted Galloway cows with their distinctive black and white coats that remind us of oreo cookies.
Beauty and Brains
Our haflinger pony Chablis is a favorite among guests. With their flaxen manes and tails, haflingers are a striking breed of horse developed in the Middle Ages in the mountains of Austria and northern Italy.
In the Exhibit
Mulefoot Hog
Mulefoot hogs have uncloven hooves, unlike most pigs whose hooves are divided in two.
Highland Cattle
Highland Cattle are are extremely hardy and can survive in places where other cattle couldn’t exist.
Donkey
Donkeys are extremely strong and very intelligent. They can live for up to 50 years.
